Janie Reynolds, BSc Hons OST, BA Hons Psych, is a friendly and highly experienced Registered Osteopath.
Having trained under the late Anthony Pusey, D.O., founder of the osteopathic treatment of animals, Janie has treated large and small animals in the past and is now leader of the Principles of Osteopathy course at the European School of Animal Osteopathy. Janie has an all-round osteopathic practice that has been expanded in the following ways:
- Cranial osteopathy for the treatment of headaches and other painful conditions in adults, behavioural issues and pain in children, and colic and unease in babies
- OsteoMAP. Janie is involved in a new The Department of Health 'Innovation' programme initiative which integrates new developments in Mindfulness and Acceptance based approaches to pain with "hands on" osteopathic treatment. OsteoMAP is designed to support people with long-term musculoskeletal pain, which may be alleviated but is unlikely to be completely resolved by manual therapy alone. OsteoMAP is based on the "third wave" Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches currently used in group-based pain management programmes within the NHS.
- The treatment of pregnant ladies who are suffering problems such as low back pain or Pubic Symphysis Disorder (PSD).
- Emotional release. Janie practices a combination of emotional release techniques which result in a profound healing opportunity for her patients. Modern life can be painful, complicated and overwhelming. Depression, anxiety, fear, lack of confidence and anger are states we all know, but sometimes they're too much and we need guidance. Physical pain is also often a manifestation of trapped emotions. Emotional release techniques get straight to the heart of the problem. Talking, as in counselling or psycho-therapy can make things worse because we survive a session by 'talking around' the issues, rather than allowing them to express themselves through the body. Emotional release may sound frightening, but in fact, the relief of finally beginning to let go and feel ourselves again, is one of the most elevating and liberating experiences there is!
